1-0 bitches! Sox win and yanks lose. Hopefully that's a trend we see more of this season. How awesome was it to see Jackie Bradley Jr. make an impact in his first ever big league game? This kid is the real deal. He plays his ass off for every pitch of the game, which looks to be the big difference between this years team and last years. Players like Johnny Gomes, Shane Victorino, Pedroia, Bradley, Middlebrooks, and even the entire bullpen staff all play every pitch as if their career depends on it. Take Gomes for example. He scored the 7th or 8th run of the game today in the 9th inning and he was celebrating like he just won the World Series. Even the dugout was cheering and pumping their fists. I know it only game 1 of a 162 game season, but I just get the feeling that the Red Sox are going to be a gritty, hard hustling team that will be very easy to root for.
As a side note, how bad are the Yankees going to be? That lineup today was outrageous. They had not 1 but 2 Francisco's in the lineup. Not good. And to think they are relying on a 57 year old Derek Jeter and a deteriorating Mark Teixiera to come back and save the team? Yikes! I bet they come in last in the AL East. HA-HA what a bunch of losers!
